British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero initiative expands 25/01/2022

British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero is our key sector support programme to help members work together in delivering further ceramic sector decarbonisation action, in a progressive but realistic manner. In the first few months since launching the initiative, an ever-growing number of BCC members, including many SMEs, have signed up and are willing to work together, share ideas and approaches, and show the sector’s collective commitment to the decarbonisation challenge. The scheme is free for members, voluntary, and has a simple sign-up process where participants self-declare against a set of light-touch ‘Principles’.Initial tools / activities being provided include:Business-to-Business Sector Partnering & Mentorship scheme: Sharing ideas / approaches / collaboration, in a non-competitive manner, amongst the wider BCC membership (between members in different product sub-sectors)Employee Engagement & Awareness training material: Helping to embed employee awareness and engagement in energy reduction / decarbonisation within member companies.Lee Brownsword, BCC Industrial & Environmental Policy Manager, said: “In these early stages of the initiative, we have mainly focussed on its promotion to and engagement with members. In 2022, we now turn towards starting new activities and support, which will begin to come on stream for participants over the coming months."In the meantime, the Partnering & Mentorship scheme will be helpful for knowledge-exchange between all members, both in sharing ideas and best practice between different ceramic product groups, and also for SMEs seeking mentorship support. The Employee Engagement & Awareness training material will also be particularly helpful for improving staff buy-in in their role helping to reduce emissions on the journey to net zero for businesses.”Members can speak to BCC on a one-to-one basis for further information. Please also visit our Net Zero webpage or contact Lee Brownsword to join.
