New "British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero" initiative launched to support members

The British Ceramic Confederation has officially launched a new voluntary member initiative, built around sector collaboration, as part of the nationwide push for decarbonisation and delivering net zero carbon emissions for the UK by 2050.More than 30 members joined the virtual “British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero” event to learn how this new, free programme will promote the roll-out of existing best practice and act as a platform for stakeholder engagement and sector communications.Lee Brownsword, BCC Industrial & Environmental Policy Manager, said: “We are very proud to launch this new initiative as we continue supporting members on the industry’s journey towards net zero.“Having engaged with members on our plans for new activities to drive forward decarbonisation, and working closely with a new industry-led Decarbonisation Steering Group, the initiative is now open to BCC members. We’re encouraging members and other stakeholders to work together on the shared challenge. In getting off the ground there are some useful tools available (Energy & Carbon Employee Engagement & Awareness material and a member Partnering & Mentorship scheme) with much more planned once the initiative is fully up and running.The BCC has also launched a new Net Zero webpage, which provides various key sector decarbonisation resources, as well information connected to British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero.Two Net Zero ceramic sector Communication Papers - a Public Statement and Call to Government - have also been produced, with support from the JJ Charitable Trust. Lee added: “The two papers summarise the key issues for the sector in continuing to decarbonise, as well as the integral role UK ceramics plays in delivering a net zero future.”BCC members that want to join the scheme should contact Lee Brownsword.
