British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero initiative expands 05/04/2022
British Ceramics: Towards Net Zero is our key sector support programme to help members work together in delivering further ceramic sector decarbonisation. In the first six months since its launch, an ever-growing number of BCC members , including many SMEs, have signed up. They are willing to work together, share ideas and approaches, and show the sector’s collective commitment to the decarbonisation challenge. The scheme is free for members, voluntary, and has a simple sign-up process where participants self-declare against a set of light-touch ‘Principles’. Initial tools / activities include:
- Business-to-Business Sector Partnering & Mentorship scheme:
Sharing ideas / approaches / collaboration, in a non-competitive manner, amongst the wider BCC membership (between members in different product sub-sectors)
- Employee Engagement & Awareness training material:
Helping to embed employee awareness and engagement in energy reduction / decarbonisation within member companies.
- Bespoke learning sessions:
A series of new online training modules, in key areas, where members have called for more assistance.Lee Brownsword, BCC Industrial & Environmental Policy Manager, said: “The early stages of the initiative were focussed on promotion and engagement with members. In 2022, we are now expanding the offering with targeted member support in learning and practical applications, kindly supported by the JJ Charitable Trust.“Our Partnering & Mentorship scheme is up and running, promoting knowledge exchange between all members, including the sharing of ideas and best practice, while also providing mentorship support for SMEs.“The Employee Engagement & Awareness training material will also be particularly helpful for improving staff buy-in on their role, helping to reduce emissions on the journey to net zero for businesses.“As further support comes on stream, we encourage other members to speak to us on a one-to-one basis for further information.”Please also visit our Net Zero webpage, or contact Lee Brownsword to join.
